Karmin comes in three different baseline distances: 10 cm, 15 cm and 25 cm. For each version a large selection of suitable lenses is available. When used in combination with the SP1, Karmin can be operated with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels at 30 fps, or with 800 x 600 pixels at 20 fps, depending on the employed lenses. This configurability makes Karmin a versatile sensor that can be used for many different 3D sensing applications.
One dart camera module is mounted in a 180° rotation (image automatically rotated), such that both USB ports are accessible from the sides. The two trigger inputs of both cameras are accessible through a 3.5 mm phone connector. This allows Karmin to be easily connected to the SP1’s trigger port.
The casing is made of anodized aluminum, which provides excellent mechanical stability. On the bottom, Karmin features a 1/4″ UNC thread, which allows mounting on a standard camera tripod. In addition, four mounting holes with an M3 metric thread are provided.
