Frame Rate of Cameras

Post by sri »

Hi,

We have SceneScan Pro with Karmin2 stereo consisting of two Basler daA1600 color cameras (1600x1200) with 6mm lenses.

We are trying to get the 10Hz from both left and right cameras at 1600x1200 RGB by setting it in pass-through mode/rectify mode but it seems to be not working. We only need the images for logging.

Could you let us know what we are missing?

Thanks,
-Sri

Hi Sri,

For RGB images, the frame rate is significantly reduced as the network is the bottleneck here, and RGB requires 3x as much data as greyscale. Does 6 fps work? 6 fps should be achievable in stereo matching mode. For pass through you might be able to increase the frame rate slightly.

We get around 5fps at 1600x1200 in stereo mode. Pass through mode doesn’t seem to do anything. We enable pass-through but it still gives us only 5fps.

Trying to get 10 fps.

Thanks

Hi Sri,

as I said, the network throughput is actually the limiting factor in case of color cameras. In through-put mode there is actually more data to be transmitted as you have two color images instead of only one color image and a disparity map. You will have to reduce your image resolution.
